Five Rumours about Wylvetra

Rumours may be known by characters who are not from and have not visited Wylvetra. This is just a small sample of rumours you might have heard about this resilient country.

  1. The many mishaps of Wylvetra are due to its being tested by the gods. When it proves worthy, it will be blessed!
  2. Secretly, a terrible demon cult lurks in the heart of Wylvetra, requiring many blood sacrifices to keep its vile master placated!
  3. The Wylvans claim to be honourable and noble, but actually they really just like a fight and it’s a good excuse to always poke their nose into any fights the other Pentarchy members have.
  4. The nobility of Wylvetra are secretly trolls in disguise. Trolls are banned in Wylvetra not because of any actual incident, but because the trolls wearing the skins of the previous Wylvan nobles don’t want any rivals!
  5. The Wylvans used the Lord Undying’s invasion as a pretext to invade northern Milcier as a prelude to attempting to conquer it fully!

Five Facts about Wylvetra

For your OC reference, or IC if your character is from Wylvetra or has visited it in the past.

  1. Relatively Permissive: Since the dissolution of Greater Alvaron, Wylvetra has legalised many faiths and practices. However, being undead or creating undead remains illegal (and, since the invasion of the Lord Undying, would likely immediately also create a murderous mob), as does demonology and the worship of Azrael, Bast, Vivamort, or the Dominion of Vortex. Trolls are also completely illegal in Wylvetra and are to be killed on sight.
  2. Noble Justice: Earl Edward and his extended family have a reputation for justice and charity that keeps them beloved in the eyes of the populace, who look down on the nobles of other lands as being invariably and thoroughly venal and corrupt.
  3. Land of Fairy-Tale: Many stories are told in Wylvetra of strange happenings at night, in the forests, or under particular skies, and the locals put great stock in them, going so far as to ensure that their homes are safely locked up and no-one is outside between sunset and sunrise, especially at times of particular significance in fable. Yet despite this superstition, the people are happy, content, and kind to travellers – perhaps because of the fate that the fables often imply for those who are not!
  4. Bonds of Loyalty: The Wylvan nobility and their subjects take the nobles’ responsibility to protect those subjects very, very seriously.
  5. Sundered Realm: The Lord Undying’s invasion in 1307 ravaged the land of Wylvetra, at one point causing many of its people to flee to the north of Milcier. Although they have returned to most of their lands, the Undying Kingdom continues to thwart their battered and reduced forces, though all Wylvans’ ambitions are to reclaim it.
