Rumours may be known by characters who are not from and have not visited Iavok. This is just a small sample of rumours you might have heard about this enthusiastically heroic country.

  1. If you don’t have a heroic name in Iavok, you’re nobody.
  2. When not at war, the Iavoki play war games and dream of the next real battle.
  3. Olympia won a bet with Mallan about the actions of a Iavoki hero and that’s why all the Iavoki have converted to her faith!
  4. The heroes of Iavok are the real reason the Pentarchy won the war against Greater Alvaron, it wasn’t Durholme at all!
  5. The “Well-Beloved” is secretly actually so called because she once fell in a well and drank the entire thing dry in order to get out again.

Five Facts about Iavok

For your OC reference, or IC if your character is from Iavok or has visited it in the past.

  1. Rule of Legends: The successor to the throne of Iavok is chosen from the most famous heroes of the country, usually by the current monarch while they are still alive.
  2. Dreams of Glory: Most Iavoki dream of being recognised as great heroes, maybe even rising to be chosen for the monarchy, and so they seek to excel, typically in battle or sport, but sometimes also in other areas.
  3. Rapid Conversion: When the Torch Pantheon (now the Bone) ascended, many Iavoki leapt at the chance to take up an Orask-influenced version of that most heroic of faiths, Olympia.
  4. No Hard Feelings: Despite being partially populated by Oraskan invaders and their descendants, and having fought many of the Alvaric nations at one time or another, the people of Iavok generally look well upon most other nations. This doesn’t stop them from sometimes raiding them for glory, and they are sometimes bemused when the people of those nations dislike them.
  5. Relative Heroism: Although the current Queen is the widow of the previous one, she is so universally acclaimed as a hero that there is little concern that she was chosen as the successor, despite their relationship.
