Five Rumours about Alaiso

Rumours may be known by characters who are not from and have not visited the Shining Nation of Alaiso. This is just a small sample of rumours you might have heard about this country.

  1. Because of all the Elemental Elves, True Elves are even more hated in Alaiso than they are everywhere else. They say you could scour the countryside for weeks and not see (or be robbed by) a single one!
  2. The Queen used to be a Pyrokin, but now she’s Grey. This is clearly a symbol of perfect elemental unity!
  3. The most important thing in Alaiso is magic, and magic should govern everything you do if you go there.
  4. Alaiso’s navy is known for burning entire islands to the waterline!
  5. If you’re not an Elemental Elf, be careful around Alaisians: they might pick you up as a slave!

Five Facts about Alaiso

For your OC reference, or IC if your character is from the Shining Nation of Alaiso or has visited it in the past.

  1. Unity of the Elements: Alaiso is focused on the principles of Elemental Unity, with the Queen advised by a council of all elements. It is considered patriotic to work at a task “unsuited” to one’s element.
  2. Mystery and Revolution: Not long ago, Alaiso threw off a strict caste system (in which Quenya were most respected and Drow least) in a violent revolution said to be aided by the people of Durholme. Although people from some countries say that it has been different since the Mists of 1298, Alaisians generally think that is clearly a load of rubbish.
  3. Slavery and Hatred: Slavery is legal in Alaiso, but is growing increasingly socially undesirable. True Elves are not permitted to be citizens and are usually killed on sight as species-traitors. The Church of Ishmund agitates for further reform, even rebellion.
  4. Magic and Metal: Alaiso is always in search of elemental metals, which are often thought of as holy. Great churches have been built incorporating them, and the nation has a burgeoning interest in Hextech.
  5. Allies and Enemies: Alaiso has various alliances which it assiduously maintains, including with Marukh and even Durholme. It mercilessly destroyed its tiny neighbour, Grenillis, in 1300 after the vile assassination of the then Queen Leonor at the hands of vicious True Elves.
