Artisan (12xp) [Root Skill]
Requires: Trade Lore
Required for: CraftHextech;

This skill allows you to make items in downtime. You will need several things, following these steps:

  1. Choose the item to craft. You must have a relevant Craft (Category) skill. (E.g. a mastercrafted dagger would require Craft (Weaponry).)
  2. Find the basic cost of the item. This will either be its units (#), or listed on the Evaluate Lore Sheet section “Weapons and Armour” on the Money and Equipment page. (E.g. a mastercrafted dagger has basic cost = 18 schillings.)
  3. Find the time requirement. Divide the basic cost by six and multiply it by the quality modifier. Round up if necessary. This is the time required to craft the item, measured in Crafting Time Units, or CTU. The quality modifier can be found in the “Modifiers” section of the Money and Equipment page. (E.g. a mastercrafted dagger requires (18 / 6) x 1.5 = 4.5 CTU, which rounds up to 5 CTU.)
  4. Provide the materials. Each CTU requires 4# of materials. These can either be provided to the refs as lammies, or, for Common materials, you can simply pay money equal to its value. (E.g. our mastercrafted dagger requires 5 x 4# = 20# of materials to make. This is made of common materials, so you can simply pay the refs 20 schillings.)
  5. If you wish to craft multiple items, begin again from 1.

In plain mathematics:
CTU cost = (Base item cost/6)*quality modifier [rounding up]
Schillings/materials cost = CTU cost*(4*materials modifier) (or you can provide materials in lammy form)

Each level of this skill grants 7 CTUs (Crafting Time Units) to work with per week.

The refs have final say over what counts as a common material. Generally speaking, items with no material modifier are always made of common materials, as well as Silver and Gold.

Artisan allows the following number of armour points to be repaired per minute:
Artisan I allows 2 points.
Artisan III allows 3 points.
Artisan V allows 4 points.
Artisan VII allows 5 points.

This skill may be bought in ascending levels [up to level VIII] but may not be bought above level.

Craft (4xp)
Requires: Artisan

You may choose a category of items which you are able to create using the Artisan skill. For example:

-Weapons and Shields
-Armour
-Masonry
-Jewellery

You may also (with ref approval) choose a different category than those listed here.
You are able to use the artisan skill to create those items.

You may buy this skill multiple times, choosing a different subject each time. Each subject counts as a separate skill for the purposes of over level buying.

Hextech (5xp)
Requires: Artisan of one level higher

This skill may be bought in ascending levels [up to Level V].
Like all crafting, creating Hextech requires the appropriate Craft (Specific Item) skill.Designing Schematics also requires the appropriate Craft (Specific Item) skill.
If you take Hextech at character creation, your character may begin play with a Basic Schematic. See the refs for this schematic.

Level enables:
I: The character may craft Basic Hextech items from known Schematics. They may learn a Basic Schematic by direct teaching from another character, as a minor action for both characters.
II: The character may craft Complex Hextech items from known Schematics. They may learn a Complex Schematic by direct teaching from another character, as a minor action for both characters. They may learn a Basic Hextech Schematic by reverse-engineering a Basic Hextech item, or by designing it themselves as a research action.
III: The character may craft Intricate Hextech items from known Schematics. They may learn an Intricate Schematic by direct teaching from another character, as a minor action for both characters. They may learn a Complex Hextech Schematic by reverse-engineering a Complex Hextech item, or by designing it themselves as a research action.
IV: The character may craft Legendary Hextech items from known Schematics. They may learn a Legendary Schematic by direct teaching from another character, as a minor action for both characters. They may learn an Intricate Hextech Schematic by reverse-engineering an Intricate Hextech item, or by designing it themselves as a research action.
V: The character may learn a Legendary Hextech Schematic by reverse-engineering a Legendary Hextech item, or by designing it themselves as a research action.
